同じ価値観を共有できる仲間と飲んで「男子会、最高」とつぶやいてみたり、毎年ロックフェスで青春時代のアーティストを見ては涙したり。深夜アニメを見て急に人生論を語り始めるなんてのも、迷走の兆候だろう。耳の痛い話だが、社会学者の阿部真大氏は、その背景をこう読み解く。
「人生の次のステップに進めずに、自分を肯定したくなっているのでしょう。男性の婚姻件数が30代後半に激減するというデータから考えて、次のステップに進まなければならない35歳です。35歳で趣味的な要素に過剰に意味を求めるということは、次のステップを踏めていないことの裏返しでもあるのです」
阿部氏はこれらの行為を「まとめ作業」と命名し、「昔なら定年後の男性が自伝を書き出したりしていたのと同じことを、35歳ではじめているんですよ」と指摘する。確かに、35歳で「人生の肯定」をはじめたとあっては、あまりに「まとめ」がすぎるだろう。
